Wispr Flow funding, valuation and investors: what the company itself has announced
By Ryleigh Newman · Published
Wispr Flow announced $280 million in Series B funding at a $2 billion valuation on August 17, 2026. The round was led by Menlo Ventures with returning investor Notable Capital, and PLUS Capital joined as a new investor. Those figures come from the announcement written by Wispr's chief executive, Tanay Kothari, and this page sticks to what that post says.
I built YapToText, a dictation app for the Mac, so read what I say about Wispr Flow with that in mind. Every fact about Wispr Flow here comes from its own Series B announcement, read on October 11, 2026.

The Series B in one table
From Wispr Flow's post Our Series B, and what it means for you, read October 11, 2026.
| Fact | What Wispr's post says |
|---|---|
| Amount | $280 million |
| Valuation | $2 billion |
| Announced | August 17, 2026 |
| Led by | Menlo Ventures, described as a long-time investor and partner |
| Returning investor | Notable Capital |
| New investor | PLUS Capital, with a group of artists and athletes from its collective |
| Earlier round | A Series A announced the previous May |
The post names athletes in the PLUS Capital group, among them Livvy Dunne, Shaun White, Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, Klay Thompson and Trae Young, and says the group includes more than 10 actors, directors and musicians and more than 10 athletes.
What the money is for
- Accuracy first. The post says accuracy is where the first and largest part of the round is going.
- Its own speech model. Wispr announced a preview of its first proprietary speech model with the round. By Wispr's own figures, in the noisiest conditions error rates fall from more than 30 percent of words to between 5 and 10 percent, and it expects 30 to 35 percent fewer dictations to need editing. Those are the company's numbers, not measurements of mine.
- A research lab. The Wispr Advanced Interfaces Lab, led by chief scientist Ariya Rastrow, whom the post describes as a founding member of the team behind Alexa.
- Two products. Flow for dictation, and Notetaker for meetings, which the post says launched the week before.
How big it is
The same post says people have written more than 60 billion words with Flow. It gives no user count, revenue or headcount, and I will not guess at them.
Whether you can invest in Wispr Flow
The post describes a venture round raised from investment firms and invited individuals. It mentions no public listing and no way for the public to buy shares. This page is not investment advice, and I am not a financial adviser. If Wispr ever offers shares publicly, its own announcements would be the place to read it.
What funding means if you are choosing a dictation app
A large round suggests the product will keep being developed, which matters if you rely on it. It also means a company with investors to repay, a subscription, and a product that runs on its servers. The pricing page and the privacy page cover those two.
YapToText is the opposite shape, and you should know that too: made by one person, free, open source, and it runs on your Mac. It will not match a funded team's pace. It also has no subscription and no account. The comparison page puts the two side by side.
