Wispr Flow guides: every page on this site about Wispr Flow, by topic
By Ryleigh Newman · Published
This is an index of the 72 pages on this site about Wispr Flow, grouped by what you are trying to do: get started, change a setting, fix a problem, understand the price, or compare it with something else. It is not Wispr Flow's official documentation, which is at docs.wisprflow.ai.
I built YapToText, a different dictation app for the Mac, so read what I say about Wispr Flow with that in mind. Every fact on these pages comes from Wispr Flow's own site, with the date it was read.
This app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.

Features and settings
- Wispr Flow Cannot Transcribe Audio Files. Wispr Flow does not accept audio or video files: its help center says it transcribes live speech only. What it does instead, and free ways on a Mac.
- Wispr Flow Command Mode and Transforms. Wispr Flow has two ways to rewrite text: Command Mode, where you hold a shortcut and say the change, and Transforms, one-key rewrites. Setup and shortcuts.
- Wispr Flow Getting Worse or Missing Words. Wispr Flow dropping first words, garbling text or less accurate than before? Wispr's own checks: the microphone, Bluetooth, retry from History, language.
- Wispr Flow Hands-Free Mode. Wispr Flow's hands-free mode dictates without holding a key: Fn-Space on a Mac, or double-tap Fn. How to start, stop and cancel, and the 20 minute limit.

- Wispr Flow iPhone Mic Always On. The orange dot stays on after Wispr Flow dictation because its session stays open, for 5 minutes by default. How to end it and shorten the wait.
- Wispr Flow Keyboard Shortcuts. Every Wispr Flow shortcut on Mac and Windows: Fn to talk, Fn Space hands-free, paste last transcript. How to change one, and why a hotkey stops working.
- Wispr Flow Languages. Wispr Flow dictates in more than 100 languages, one per dictation. The regional options, the three it cannot detect, and how YapToText's 29 compare.

- Wispr Flow Microphone. Choose a microphone in Wispr Flow, rank your mics on a Mac, dictate quietly, and fix a mic that is silent or not detected. Steps from Wispr's own docs.
- Wispr Flow Notetaker. Wispr Flow's Notetaker records meetings on Mac and Windows and writes a transcript and summary. Transcripts are stored in Wispr's cloud, no opt-out.
- Wispr Flow Offline. Wispr Flow does not work offline: its own privacy page says transcription always happens in the cloud. What that means, and the Mac apps that run locally.
- Wispr Flow on iPad. Wispr Flow does not support iPad: its help center lists iPhone only, with iOS 18.3 or later. What it does run on, and how to dictate on an iPad or Mac.

- Wispr Flow Snippets and Dictionary. Wispr Flow snippets expand a spoken trigger into saved text, and its dictionary teaches it names and jargon. How to add each, limits, and good triggers.
- Wispr Flow Styles and Auto Cleanup. Wispr Flow edits what you say: Styles set capitals and punctuation by app, and Auto Cleanup sets how much it rewrites. How to change each, or get raw text.
- Wispr Flow With a Foot Pedal. Use a foot pedal with Wispr Flow: it rejects single plain keys, so the pedal must send a modifier combination or Caps Lock. Setup steps and a free option.
- Wispr Flow with Citrix, RDP and Remote Desktops. Wispr Flow in Citrix, Remote Desktop, VMware Horizon or a VDI: run it on your own computer, share the clipboard, fix empty fields and stray characters.

How these pages are made
Each page takes its facts from Wispr Flow's own pages, names the article it came from, and gives the date I read it. When Wispr Flow changes something, the page can be wrong until I catch it, so the date matters. The official source is Wispr Flow's own help center, and that is the place to check anything that affects money or data.
I built YapToText, a free dictation app for Apple silicon Macs, which makes me a rival, and each page says so. The comparison page sets the apps side by side.
This app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.
