Wispr Flow alternatives for Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android

YapToText, the app I make, runs only on the Mac, so this page is for every other screen. On Windows, the alternatives to Wispr Flow are superwhisper, Spokenly, TypeWhisper, Handy and OpenWhispr if you want speech recognized on your own PC, Typeless, Aqua Voice, Willow Voice, DictaFlow, Voicy and Raycast if a cloud service is fine, and the voice typing built into Windows if you want to install nothing. On Linux the list is Handy, OpenWhispr, Spokenly, Typeless and Voicy. On Android it is superwhisper, Typeless, Aqua Voice, Voicy and DictaFlow, and on iPhone it adds Willow Voice, Spokenly, TypeWhisper and Raycast.

I have not used any of these on Windows, Linux or a phone, so this is a map, not a ranking. Each fact comes from the maker's own site or documentation, read on October 3 to 6, 2026, and Microsoft's own page for voice typing.

Which app runs where

Checked October 3 to 6, 2026, on each maker's own pages. Not listed means the maker's pages I read name no app for that platform. Platforms change quickly, so check before you install.

If you want what Wispr Flow does without its cloud, the rows to read are superwhisper, Spokenly, TypeWhisper, Handy and OpenWhispr.

Wispr Flow alternatives for Windows

Windows has the most choices. Decide first whether your voice may leave the PC. That splits the list in two.

  • Recognized on your PC, free. superwhisper's free plan gives unlimited dictation with local Whisper models. Spokenly's local models are free with no limits. Handy and OpenWhispr are open source under the MIT license and free for local dictation, and TypeWhisper's core is free under GPL-3.0.
  • Cloud services with a free allowance. Typeless is free to 8,000 words a week, then $12 a month billed yearly or $30 monthly. Aqua Voice gives 1,000 free words, then $8 a month billed yearly or $10 monthly. Willow Voice is free on the model it calls weaker, then $15 a month or $12 billed yearly. DictaFlow is free to 2,000 words a month, then $7 a month.
  • Cloud services you pay for. Voicy gives a trial of 30 minutes of recording, then starts at $8.49 a month. Raycast Dictation is part of Raycast Pro, $10 a month.
  • Built in. Microsoft says voice typing opens with the Windows key and H, uses online speech recognition and needs an internet connection.
  • A GPU note. superwhisper's docs say its local Whisper models on Windows use the graphics card through Vulkan and fall back to the processor without it, and that Windows on ARM devices should use Parakeet Multilanguage or a cloud model.
  • Remote desktops. DictaFlow documents a typing mode that enters text character by character for Citrix, RDP and VMware Horizon. I did not see one described on the other makers' pages I read.

The superwhisper, Spokenly, Handy, OpenWhispr, TypeWhisper, Voicy, DictaFlow and Raycast Dictation pages have what each one does, written for the Mac but true of the apps.

Wispr Flow alternatives for Linux

Linux is the platform Wispr Flow does not list at all. Five of the apps on this page have a Linux build, and a sixth has a beta you compile yourself.

  • Handy. One shortcut, your words pasted, transcribed on your computer. MIT licensed and free.
  • OpenWhispr. Dictation, meetings and notes, with local models free and an optional cloud. MIT licensed.
  • Spokenly. Not open source, but free with local models. Its downloads list deb, rpm and AppImage packages.
  • Typeless. A cloud service with a Linux app. Every feature needs an internet connection.
  • Voicy. A cloud service that lists a Linux app next to its Mac and Windows ones.
  • Hex. Its README describes a Linux beta with a smaller feature set than the Mac app, installed from a source build or with Nix.

If your voice has to stay on the machine, that leaves Handy, OpenWhispr, Spokenly's local models and Hex. Typeless and Voicy send audio to a server on every platform.

The open source alternatives page compares Handy and OpenWhispr with the Mac projects, and the Hex page has what its README says.

Wispr Flow alternatives for Android

On Android these apps sit beside the keyboard or float over it. None of them is a global hotkey. On Android the choice is superwhisper, Typeless, Aqua Voice, Voicy or DictaFlow.

  • superwhisper. A floating bubble that dictates into any app, on Android 13 or later, under the same Pro license as the desktop apps.
  • Aqua Voice. Arrived on Google Play on October 6, 2026, for Android 10 or later, as a button that sits next to your keyboard.
  • Typeless. Has an Android app, with the same 8,000 free words a week.
  • Voicy and DictaFlow. Both list Android apps on Google Play. DictaFlow also keeps an optional route through Telegram.
  • Not yet. Willow Voice lists Android as coming soon, and Spokenly keeps a waitlist.

Only superwhisper's pages describe local models at all, and I have not checked which of them run on a phone. Assume a cloud service on Android unless the maker says otherwise.

Wispr Flow alternatives for iPhone and iPad

An iPhone app cannot listen from a keyboard directly, so each of these has its own workaround. On iPhone the list is the longest after Windows: superwhisper, Typeless, Aqua Voice, Willow Voice, Spokenly, Voicy, DictaFlow, TypeWhisper and Raycast.

  • superwhisper. A keyboard you turn on in Settings, on iOS 18 or later.
  • Aqua Voice and Spokenly. Both need iOS 17 or later.
  • Raycast Dictation. Lives in the Raycast Keyboard. Raycast's manual says starting a session opens the Raycast app first, because iOS keyboards have no direct microphone access, and that it then keeps a session alive for five minutes.
  • DictaFlow. Lists native iPhone and iPad apps.
  • TypeWhisper. Its site lists iOS next to macOS and Windows.
  • Paid or in beta. OpenWhispr's iPhone and iPad app is part of its paid plan, and VoiceInk has one in beta.

I have not installed any of these keyboards, so read each maker's setup page before you rely on one.

Three things to check before you pick

Three questions sort this list faster than any feature table. Ask where the audio goes, whether one payment covers every device, and whether you need an account.

  • Where the audio goes. Wispr Flow, Typeless, Aqua Voice, Willow Voice, Voicy and Raycast Dictation send it to a server every time. superwhisper, Spokenly, TypeWhisper, Handy, OpenWhispr and Hex can recognize speech on the device. DictaFlow does either, depending on the mode.
  • One payment or several. superwhisper says one Pro license covers Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. Aqua says one subscription covers every platform. Voicy's Pro covers unlimited personal devices, desktop and mobile. Check the others before you assume the same.
  • An account. The cloud services need one. TypeWhisper says its core needs no account. For the rest, look at the sign-up step before you install.

If you also have a Mac

Plenty of people asking this have a Mac as well. On an Apple silicon Mac, YapToText is free, runs on the Mac and needs no account, and it stops there: it has no app for any other platform.

It is on the Mac App Store, and the Wispr Flow alternative page covers the switch on a Mac. If you need one app across a Mac and a PC or a phone, the table above is the honest answer, not YapToText.

App Store poster headed Yap it. Bam. It's typed. over the YapToText Home window and the three floating panel layouts.

The short version

  • Windows, local and free. Look at superwhisper, Spokenly, TypeWhisper, Handy or OpenWhispr.
  • Windows, cloud. Typeless, Aqua Voice, Willow Voice, DictaFlow, Voicy or Raycast, or the voice typing built into Windows.
  • Linux. Look at Handy, OpenWhispr, Spokenly, Typeless or Voicy, and Hex if you build it.
  • Android. Look at superwhisper, Typeless, Aqua Voice, Voicy or DictaFlow.
  • iPhone. Look at those five, plus Willow Voice, Spokenly, TypeWhisper and Raycast.
  • Mac. Use YapToText, which is free.

Pick by the platform first, then by whether your voice may leave the device. If a platform here is out of date, tell me on GitHub. Every issue gets read.
