Wispr Flow login problems: sign in, reset a password, and check whether the service is down
By Ryleigh Newman · Published
Most Wispr Flow sign-in failures come down to one thing: the account is tied to the method you first used. If you signed up with Google, Apple, Microsoft, SSO, or an email and password, use that same one again. Wispr Flow needs an account and a connection to dictate, so a login problem stops the app completely.
I built YapToText, a different dictation app for the Mac, so read what I say about Wispr Flow with that in mind. Every fact about Wispr Flow here comes from its own help center, read on October 10, 2026. The articles are Login Issues with Wispr Flow and Service status alerts.
This app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.

Start here
- On a Mac or PC, choose Sign in via browser and pick the provider you originally used.
- Enter the exact account email. The article says addresses with different dots or aliases count as different addresses.
- Keep Flow open while you finish in the browser.
- On the success page, select Open Wispr Flow. The app does not open by itself.
Fix it by symptom
From Wispr Flow's help article Login Issues, read October 10, 2026.
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Incorrect email or password | Check both, then select Forgot password and follow the emailed link. A new password needs at least 8 characters |
| No reset email | Check spam and the address you typed. You can request up to 3 reset emails every 30 minutes |
| This link has expired, or was already used | Enter your email on that page, select Send a new link, and open the newest email promptly |
| Check your email, with a 6-digit code | Enter the code. You get five attempts, and the page stays valid for 5 minutes |
| A captcha blocks you | Complete it, or use another sign-in method your account supports |
| The browser never returns to Flow | Flow stops waiting after 5 minutes. Start again with Sign in via browser |
| No browser opens | Open your default browser by hand, confirm one is set as default, and try again |
Things it cannot do from the login screen
- Switch methods. The article says Flow cannot change an existing account's login method from the sign-in screen.
- Link emails. It cannot link several email addresses to one account there either.
- Switch accounts in place. Sign out first. Signing out deletes local transcripts, so copy anything you need.
The uninstall guide lists what signing out removes.
Check whether Wispr Flow is down
From Wispr Flow's help article Service status alerts, read October 10, 2026.
| Banner | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Orange | Degraded performance. Dictation may be slower than usual |
| Red | Outage. Dictation may be unavailable or unreliable |
On Mac and Windows the banner appears on the Hub home page, with a View status link to Wispr's status page. A banner means the problem is on Wispr's side, and there is nothing to fix on yours. The Wispr Flow troubleshooting page covers problems after you are signed in.
Dictation with nothing to sign in to
YapToText has no account, so there is no login to fail, no password to reset and no server to be down. The speech model runs on the Mac. It is free, and it is Mac only, on Apple silicon with macOS 14 or later. If Wispr Flow is having a bad hour, it also works as a backup that needs no connection. The Wispr Flow offline page explains why Flow needs the internet, and the alternative page compares the two.

The short version
- Method. Use the sign-in method you signed up with.
- Email. The exact address, dots and all.
- Reset. Forgot password, up to 3 emails in 30 minutes.
- Code. Six digits, five tries, five minutes.
- Down. An orange or red banner on the Hub home page.
If Wispr changes its sign-in, open an issue on GitHub and I will update this page. Every one gets read.
