Cancel Wispr Flow: the subscription, the account and the data, in that order

To cancel a Wispr Flow subscription bought on the desktop app or the website, open Settings, Plans and Billing in the desktop app and choose Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's billing portal. If you bought it on an iPhone or through Google Play, you cancel with Apple or Google instead. Cancelling stops the renewal. It does not delete your account or your data, and there is no automatic prorated refund.

I make YapToText, a free dictation app, and I have never paid for Wispr Flow, so these are Wispr's own steps from its help center, read on October 9, 2026, in my words.

Steps

  1. Find out who bills you: Stripe, Apple, Google or a team admin.
  2. For Stripe, open the desktop app, Settings, Plans and Billing, Manage subscription.
  3. For Apple or Google, cancel in that store's subscription settings.
  4. Ask support about a refund before you delete the account.

Cancel by who bills you

From Wispr Flow's help center, read October 9, 2026.

How you bought itWhere you cancel
Individual Pro, on desktop or the webDesktop app, Settings, Plans and Billing, Manage subscription. It opens Stripe's billing portal.

Google PlayPlay Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Wispr Flow, Cancel subscription.
A promotional or other mobile subscriptionContact Wispr's support to change or end it.

Sign in with the account and the provider that bought the subscription. The help center says the desktop app shows a note about Apple for any store purchase, even one made through Google Play, so use the store that bills you.

What cancelling does, and what it leaves

  • It stops the renewal. The help center talks about reactivating before the end date, so the plan runs to the date you already paid through.
  • It keeps your account and data. Cancellation does not delete either one.
  • It gives no automatic refund. There is no automatic prorated refund. Wispr says to contact support about a refund request, and Apple manages App Store refunds.
  • It can be undone. Before the end date you can use the provider's Resubscribe action. After it, you subscribe again.
  • A plan change cancels the cancellation. Switching or upgrading a Stripe plan clears a scheduled cancellation, and renewal continues.

After the paid period ends, the account returns to the free plan, which is capped at 2,000 words a week on desktop.

Delete the account, if you want everything gone

Deleting the account is a separate and permanent step. Do it after the subscription question is settled, not instead of it.

  • What it removes. It removes your account with your dictation history, audio, meeting content, notes, dictionary, preferences and usage history, and it revokes connected integrations.
  • The refund trap. Deleting your account cancels a Wispr-billed subscription at once with no refund, not even a prorated one. Contact support first if you want a refund.
  • The store trap. Deleting your Wispr account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel with Apple or Google, or the billing continues.
  • Where it is. On desktop you follow a typed confirmation prompt. On iPhone it is Menu, Account, Delete account.

Before you delete, the Mac or Windows app can request a copy of your data under Settings, Data and Privacy, Download your data. The download stays available for 30 days.

Remove the app and its local data

Removing the app is a third step, separate from the other two. Uninstalling Flow does not cancel a subscription and does not delete your account.

  • Save first. Signing out or deleting Flow's data folders permanently removes local transcripts and other content that has not synced.
  • What sits on a Mac or PC. The help center names the local dictation history, meeting notes and recordings, settings, and the signed-in session.
  • History on other devices. Deleting the account does not remove history stored on your other devices. Wispr says to delete the app on each one.

Wispr's uninstall article lists the exact folders for each system, and it is linked under Sources below.

Dictating without a subscription afterward

Once the subscription is gone you have three free ways to keep dictating on a Mac.

  • Wispr Flow's free plan. You keep the app, with 2,000 words a week on desktop.
  • Apple Dictation. It is built into macOS and costs nothing. The guide to dictation on a Mac shows how to turn it on.
  • YapToText. It is the app I make. It is free with no paid tier, no account and no word cap, and both of its models run on an Apple silicon Mac.

Download YapToText on the Mac App StoreThis app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.

The Wispr Flow alternative page walks through moving your names and snippets over, and the list of seven alternatives has the paid options too.

The short version

  • Stripe purchases. Cancel in the desktop app under Settings, Plans and Billing.
  • Store purchases. Cancel with Apple or Google, not inside Flow.
  • Refunds. None are automatic, so ask support before you delete anything.
  • Three separate steps. Cancelling, deleting the account and uninstalling each do a different job.

If something here no longer matches Wispr Flow's site, open an issue on GitHub and I will fix it. Every one gets read.
