Typeless pricing: what the free plan allows, and what Pro and Enterprise add

Typeless pricing starts at free: the Free plan allows 8,000 words a week, and Pro costs $30 per member billed monthly, or $12 per member a month billed yearly, on typeless.com as of October 5, 2026. Pro adds unlimited words, enhanced accuracy and team tools, Enterprise is priced on request with single sign-on and audit logs, and students get 50 percent off Pro. Every plan runs in the cloud: Typeless's FAQ says every feature needs an internet connection.

I built YapToText, a free dictation app that runs on the Mac, so read the last sections with that in mind. Everything about Typeless here comes from typeless.com and its help center, read on October 5, 2026, and each source is listed at the end of the page.

Every Typeless plan and price

Checked October 5, 2026, on typeless.com. Prices are in US dollars per member. Prices change, so check before you buy.

PlanBilled monthlyBilled yearlyWhat it includes
Free$0$08,000 words a week, standard accuracy, and standard access during high demand.
Pro$30 a month$12 a monthEverything in Free, plus unlimited words, enhanced accuracy, priority access during high demand, Cloud Sync across devices, and team member management, team usage analytics and central billing.
EnterpriseCustomCustomEverything in Pro, plus single sign-on, SCIM and JIT provisioning, domain verification and capture, audit logs with configurable retention, enforced HIPAA controls with a BAA available, volume discounts, flexible invoicing and priority support.

Pro is priced per member, so the same plan serves one person or a small team. Its help center says a new account starts on the Free plan automatically, and you can upgrade at any time from Upgrade in the app's left sidebar. For one person, the choice is Free or Pro, and the gap between Pro's two prices is unusually wide.

What the free plan allows

Typeless Free is a real plan, not a trial, and it is the largest weekly word allowance of the cloud apps in my roundup of AI dictation apps. 8,000 words a week is a lot of email; the catch is standard accuracy and a queue when it is busy. Here is what it includes, per Typeless's own pages:

  • 8,000 words a week. The pages I read do not say which day the week resets, so check in the app before you count on one.
  • Standard accuracy. Enhanced accuracy is a Pro feature.
  • Standard access during high demand. Pro gets priority access when the service is busy.
  • Measured in words, not features. The pricing page describes Free by words, accuracy and access. It does not list features held back for Pro beyond those, so if one feature matters to you, try it on Free first.
  • History on your device. Its privacy policy says your history stays on your device unless you turn on Cloud Sync, which is listed with Pro.

You sign in with Google, Apple or email to use it. Its privacy policy says audio and context data are processed in real time on cloud servers and discarded once the result is returned, and that dictation is not used to train models. Still, nothing works with the Wi-Fi off, on any plan.

What Pro and Enterprise add

Pro is where the word count goes away, and where team features start. Pro buys volume and accuracy; Enterprise buys control.

Pro

  • Unlimited words. No weekly count.
  • Enhanced accuracy. Typeless lists it as a Pro feature, against standard accuracy on Free. I have not measured the difference.
  • Priority access. Ahead of the queue during high demand.
  • Cloud Sync. Your history across devices.
  • A small team. Team member management, team usage analytics, and central billing and invoices.

Enterprise

  • Identity. Single sign-on, SCIM and JIT provisioning, and domain verification and capture.
  • Records. Audit logs with configurable retention.
  • Regulated work. Enforced HIPAA controls, with a Business Associate Agreement available.
  • Buying. Volume discounts, flexible invoicing and payment terms, and priority support, through Typeless's sales team.

To cancel Pro, its help center points to Subscription on the Account page in the app. It also says refunds are issued only when legally required or under the refund policy of the app store you bought through, so the free plan is the place to decide.

Monthly, yearly or the student price

Both Pro prices buy the same features, so the only question is how long you will use it. Typeless also runs a student discount: 50 percent off Pro, once you verify your status by signing in with your school email or by emailing Typeless from your school address. Its students page says the discount is for desktop checkout only, and that most accredited universities and colleges worldwide are supported.

Worked out from typeless.com prices, checked October 5, 2026, for one member, before any tax.

AfterPro monthly, $30Pro yearly, $12 a month
3 months$90$144, paid up front for the year
1 year$360$144
2 years$720$288

Billed yearly, Pro costs 60 percent less than paying month to month, and a year of monthly payments costs as much as two and a half yearly plans. Monthly only costs less if you stop within four months. If you keep Typeless Pro past four months, the yearly plan is the cheaper one.

Climb this ladder, smallest commitment first:

  1. Typeless Free. 8,000 words a week, to see if the cloud and its accuracy suit you.
  2. The student discount. Half off Pro, if you can verify a school email.
  3. Pro, monthly. $30 a month, for a short burst of heavy dictation.
  4. Pro, yearly. $12 a month, billed once a year, if you dictate every day.
  5. Enterprise. When a company needs single sign-on, audit logs or a BAA.

How it compares, and where Typeless is the better buy

Billed yearly, the three paid apps all land on $12 a month; month to month, Typeless costs twice as much as the other two. The Wispr Flow pricing page lists every Wispr plan, and the roundup of AI dictation apps ranks ten of them.

Typeless is good software, with the biggest free cloud allowance of the apps here. If you dictate beyond one Mac, or in many languages, Typeless covers ground YapToText does not. It is the better choice if you need any of these:

  • Every platform. Mac on Apple silicon or Intel, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. YapToText is a Mac app for Apple silicon only.
  • Many languages. More than 100, with automatic detection. YapToText lists 29 plus auto-detect; the languages guide lists them.
  • Translation as you speak. Translate turns your speech into another language while you dictate. YapToText keeps the language you spoke.
  • A team. Member management and central billing on Pro, and single sign-on, SCIM and a BAA on Enterprise. YapToText has nothing for teams.
  • A big free allowance in the cloud. If the cloud is fine with you and 8,000 words a week covers you, Free may be all you need.

Where a free on-device app fits

YapToText is free with no paid tier, no weekly word count and no account. Tips are optional and add no features. The speech model and the cleanup model both run on your Mac, so your voice never leaves it, and the only network use is a model download you start yourself. Typeless needs the internet for every feature; YapToText needs it for none.

  • Tone for each app. Auto mode, on by default, reads each dictation on the Mac: a letter becomes an email, a short chat stays as spoken, and everything else gets a careful pass that rewrites nothing. The Auto mode guide lists every app.
  • Editing by voice. The counterpart to Ask Anything is Quick Edit: select text, tap Right Option, say the change, and tap again. It can translate a selection afterward, too. The Quick Edit guide has examples.
  • No accuracy tiers. Whisper Large v3 Turbo (Q5) ships inside the App Store build, and there is no free or paid version of it.
  • Offline from the first launch. The App Store build ships both models. The offline dictation guide shows how to test that.
App Store poster headed Nothing leaves your Mac, over YapToText's AI Models page with both models marked Included.
Figure 1. One tier: both models show as Included on the AI Models page, so YapToText dictates with Wi-Fi off and nothing is held back for a paid plan.

The trade is real. It runs only on an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later, the download is about 2.9 GB, and there is no Windows, Linux or phone version, no live translation and nothing for teams. My hands make typing difficult, so I dictate every day, and I wanted dictation that keeps working when the internet does not. YapToText does count your words, on its Statistics page, but only to show how much typing you skipped, never to limit you.

Try the free route in ten minutes

If you are weighing Typeless Pro, it costs nothing to try YapToText on the same Mac first. Quit Typeless, grant two permissions, and your dictation runs on your own Mac.

Step 1: Install from the App Store

  • You: Get YapToText from the Mac App Store and open it.
  • YapToText: Starts a short welcome tour. Both models are inside, so there is nothing else to download.
  • Check: The tour reaches a page titled A couple of permissions.

Step 2: Grant Microphone and Accessibility

  • You: Press Continue next to Microphone, then next to Accessibility.
  • macOS: Asks once for the microphone, then opens System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility, where you switch YapToText on yourself.
  • Check: Both cards read Granted. Without Accessibility, dictations go to the clipboard instead of your cursor.

Step 3: Quit Typeless, pick your key and dictate once

  • You: Quit Typeless, so two apps are not listening for your keys at once. On the tour's Your controls page, keep Right Command, or record Fn/Globe and keep Tap to start / stop to match the Typeless habit. Then click into a text field and dictate a sentence.
  • YapToText: Shows your voice as a wave and your words as they form, then types the finished text at your cursor.
  • Check: The words land where your cursor was. If the wave stays flat, the app is not hearing your microphone yet.
YapToText's Dictation settings page on a Mac: the Keys, Recording, Microphone and Delivery cards.
Figure 2. The Keys card on the Dictation page, where you can record Fn/Globe if that is the key your hands learned with Typeless.

Step 4: Edit a selection by voice

Say: Select a sentence you just dictated, tap Right Option, say this, and tap Right Option again.

make this shorter

What happens: The Quick Edit card listens, applies the edit on your Mac and says Done, and your selection is replaced.

The keys and shortcuts guide lists every key that can start a dictation, and the free Typeless alternative page covers moving your dictionary over.

What each one cannot do

The gaps point in opposite directions. Typeless trades the internet for reach; YapToText trades reach for a Mac that needs nothing else.

Typeless

  • Work offline. Its FAQ says every feature needs an internet connection, on every plan.
  • Unlimited words for free. Free is 8,000 words a week with standard accuracy.
  • Skip the account. You sign in with Google, Apple or email.
  • Refund freely. Refunds are issued only when legally required or under an app store's policy.

YapToText

  • Other devices. Mac only, with no Windows, Linux, iPhone or Android version and no sync.
  • Intel or older Macs. It needs Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later.
  • Translate as you speak. Translation is a Quick Edit afterward.
  • Teams. No shared dictionary, admin console or single sign-on.

The short version

  • Free. $0, with an account and the cloud: 8,000 words a week at standard accuracy.
  • Pro. $30 per member billed monthly, or $12 a month billed yearly, for unlimited words, enhanced accuracy and team tools. Students get 50 percent off.
  • Enterprise. Custom, with single sign-on, SCIM, audit logs and a BAA available.
  • The free alternative. YapToText, on one Apple silicon Mac, with no word count, no account and no internet needed.

Typeless charges for volume and teams in the cloud; YapToText charges nothing and stays on one Mac.

If a price or plan here no longer matches Typeless's site, open an issue on GitHub and I will fix it. Every one gets read.
