MacWhisper discount codes: what MacWhisper itself offers, and how to find a lost license key
By Ryleigh Newman · Published
I do not have a MacWhisper discount code to give you, and I will not repeat one from a coupon site, because I cannot verify it. What MacWhisper describes on its own pages: students, journalists and nonprofits get 25 percent off on request, volume packs come in 5, 10, 20 or 50 licenses, and some of its help articles carry an upgrade link with 10 or 20 percent off. Pro is a one-time payment, €64 on macwhisper.com when I last checked on October 6, 2026, so there is no subscription to discount.
I built YapToText, a different Mac app for dictation and file transcription, so read what I say about MacWhisper with that in mind. Every fact about MacWhisper here comes from its own help center, read on October 9 and 10, 2026.
This app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.

Every discount MacWhisper describes
From docs.macwhisper.com, read October 9 and 10, 2026. Offers inside help articles can end without notice.
| Discount | What MacWhisper says | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Students, journalists, nonprofits | 25 percent off, on request | Help article on the two editions |
| Volume licenses | Packs of 5, 10, 20 or 50, more on request by email | Same article |
| Upgrade link in the dictation article | Upgrade now with 20 percent off | Help article on the dictation feature |
| Upgrade link in the command-line article | Upgrade to Pro with a 10 percent discount, to mark the tool's launch | Help article on the command-line tool |
A license key only works in the direct download from macwhisper.com. The App Store edition, Whisper Transcription, has no field for a key and sells subscriptions through Apple instead.
How to ask for the 25 percent
Email [email protected] before you buy, say which group you are in, and attach what shows it. The help center says the discount is given on request. It does not publish a code, which is why codes on coupon sites are either someone's personal link or made up.
If you lost your license key
- Search your email for a message from Gumroad with a subject like You've bought MacWhisper. The key is in it.
- If you cannot find it, sign in at gumroad.com/library and look under your purchases.
- If that fails, email [email protected] with the address you bought with and roughly when.
How many Macs one license covers
A personal license is meant for your own devices, with a soft limit of 3. Go past it and you can see Your license is disabled when activating. Moving to a new Mac: on the old one, open Settings, Pro, Remove license first. MacWhisper's licensing article says it began enforcing the terms more strictly in December 2025 after resold keys appeared on marketplaces, and that licenses showing abuse can be blocked automatically. A key bought from a reseller is the one most likely to stop working.
The price without a discount
MacWhisper Pro is paid once, with lifetime updates, and the free version already transcribes files with local models. The MacWhisper pricing page lists what Free and Pro each include, and what the App Store edition's subscriptions are for.
The free route
If the reason you want Pro is dictation into any app with cleanup, YapToText does that free: tap one key, talk, and cleaned-up text lands at your cursor, with both models running on the Mac. It also transcribes audio and video files. It does not do speaker labels, subtitles, YouTube links or batches, which is where MacWhisper Pro earns its price. The MacWhisper alternative page compares them.
This app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.
The short version
- Codes. I have none, and MacWhisper publishes none.
- 25 percent off. Students, journalists and nonprofits, by email before buying.
- Teams. Volume packs of 5 to 50.
- Lost key. Gumroad's email, then gumroad.com/library, then support.
- Devices. Your own, soft limit of 3.
If MacWhisper changes a discount, open an issue on GitHub and I will update this page. Every one gets read.
