Send MacWhisper transcripts to Obsidian, Notion, Zapier, Make and n8n
By Ryleigh Newman · Published
From version 13.6, MacWhisper can forward a finished transcript to Zapier, Make.com, n8n, your own webhook, or a local Obsidian vault. The webhook services receive the transcript's title and full text, and from there you route it to Notion, Slack, email or anything else. Integrations are a Pro feature, in Settings, Integrations.
I built YapToText, a different Mac app for dictation and file transcription, so read what I say about MacWhisper with that in mind. Every fact about MacWhisper here comes from its own help center, read on October 10, 2026. The article is Integrating MacWhisper with other services.
This app is completely free. You don't have to make an account. There are no subscriptions, no difficult downloads, and nothing is locked. Made for Apple silicon Macs. Source on GitHub.

What each integration needs
From MacWhisper's help article, read October 10, 2026. Credentials are stored in the macOS Keychain.
| Service | What you enter | What MacWhisper sends |
|---|---|---|
| Zapier | A webhook URL from a Catch Hook trigger | A POST with the title and transcript as JSON |
| Make.com | A webhook URL and an API key | The same JSON, with the key in a header |
| n8n | A webhook URL from a Webhook trigger node | The same JSON |
| Custom Webhook | Any URL that accepts a JSON POST | The same JSON |
| Obsidian | An IP address, a port and an API token | A PUT that creates or updates a Markdown file named after the transcript |
Send every transcript automatically
At the top of the Integrations page is the switch Automatically send after finished transcription. With it on, every finished transcript goes to every integration that is configured. Leave it off if some recordings should not leave your Mac.
Obsidian
- In Obsidian, install and enable a community plugin that exposes a local REST API. The article names Local REST API.
- Set its port, 27124 by default, and copy its API token.
- In MacWhisper, open Settings, Integrations, Obsidian.
- Enter the IP address, usually 127.0.0.1, the port, and the token.
- Click Test. A small test note should appear in your vault.
Each transcript becomes a Markdown file in the vault, named after its title. This one stays on your Mac, since it talks to Obsidian locally. If the test fails, check that the plugin is running, the vault is open, and the port matches.
Notion, through Zapier, Make or n8n
- In Zapier, create a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier, Catch Hook as the trigger, and copy its webhook URL.
- In MacWhisper, open Settings, Integrations, Zapier, paste the URL, and click Test.
- Back in Zapier, add a Notion action and map the title and transcript fields to a new page.
MacWhisper has no direct Notion connection. The article describes Notion, Google Sheets, Slack and email as destinations you reach through one of the webhook services. Make.com and n8n work the same way, and n8n can be self-hosted.
What leaves your Mac
Transcription can stay local, but a webhook sends the full transcript text to that service over the internet. Obsidian's local API is the exception. The MacWhisper privacy page covers the app's other cloud features.
Dictating into Obsidian or Notion directly
YapToText has no integrations and no webhooks. It does something simpler: it types what you say into the app in front, so dictating into an Obsidian note or a Notion page needs no setup. It is free and runs on the Mac. The Obsidian dictation guide and the Notion dictation guide cover each, including how to get a transcribed recording into a note.

The short version
- Where. Settings, Integrations. Pro only.
- Webhooks. Zapier, Make.com, n8n or your own URL get the title and transcript.
- Obsidian. Local, through a REST API plugin.
- Notion. Through a webhook service.
- Automatic. One switch sends every finished transcript.
If MacWhisper adds or changes integrations, open an issue on GitHub and I will update this page. Every one gets read.

Questions
Can MacWhisper send transcripts to Obsidian?
Yes, with a Pro license. It writes a Markdown file into your local vault through a REST API plugin in Obsidian.
Does MacWhisper integrate with Notion?
Not directly. It sends the transcript to Zapier, Make.com or n8n by webhook, and that service creates the Notion page.
Does MacWhisper work with n8n?
Yes. Paste the URL of an n8n Webhook trigger node into Settings, Integrations, n8n, and MacWhisper posts each transcript to it.
What does MacWhisper send to a webhook?
A JSON body with two fields: the transcript title and the full transcript text.
Are MacWhisper integrations free?
No. Its help article says integrations require an active MacWhisper Pro license.
